This Satirical Thriller
The filmmaker's daring satire tackles the tyranny of feminine aesthetics and the perceived horrors of ageing. Hollywood star Demi Moore presents a brilliant acting turn as Elisabeth, a 50-year-old actress reduced to hosting a fitness program on TV. This produces a youthful duplicate called Sue, culminating in a steadily more parasitic dynamic between them. Friday 17 October, Paramount+

This Supernatural Story
Soderbergh pushes his film-making abilities with this nifty ghostly tale shot entirely from the viewpoint of the phantom. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe moves into their new suburban house, the camera – as the unseen entity – follows them around. The teen shows signs of sensing the supernatural presence, and it looks like protective of her. Yet what is the reason? The premise is enjoyable that avoids overstaying, with a twist you might not see coming. Saturday 11 October, afternoon and evening times, Sky Cinema

Cage fully commits to his cult stardom via this meta comedy caper. This Creepy Thriller
Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller stands strong even without a continuation. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, a series of child abductions has left the children anxious. Once Finney is kidnapped by the villain and held captive in a dungeon, he fears a terrible outcome. However, the non-functional line mounted nearby keeps ringing, with ghostly voices providing assistance, as the intuitive nightmares of Gwen, his sister may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. This Saturday, late evening, Film4
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the conflict between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for greed in this director's wonderfully garish true story about the fallen TV preacher and her criminal husband. Andrew Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who declares early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. The couple commence profiting from the nation's spiritual convictions. It's a riot of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, yet the lead actress succeeds to present Tammy Faye in a likable light. Next Tuesday, late night, Film4
This Espionage Thriller
This period's additional entry from the filmmaker delivers a spy mystery as precise like the turtlenecks worn by Fassbender's intelligence officer. He receives a mission with uncovering a mole within their ranks from a group of five – among them is Kathryn, played by Cate Blanchett. Both actors are experts of understated style, so a delicious mental battle of deception or honesty takes place. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela participate the smart espionage amusement. October 17th, various showings, Sky Cinema
